Friends, Funding and Support

Qurna Discovery is supported by

All work done at Qurna Discovery relies upon the support and agreement of the Supreme Council of Antiquities. We are indebted to its personnel, both local and in Cairo, and in particular to its General Secretary, Dr Zahi Hawass.

Please support Qurna Discovery, and do become a Friend.

In 2007 the Friends of Qurna Discovery was set up - a small organisation whose aim is:

To advance education and learning among the public with particular reference to the culture of the Qurnawi on the West Bank of the Nile at Luxor, Egypt and by support for a venue in which buildings, artefacts and documents of architectural or historical interest can be collected, displayed and made available to the public.

All income from the Friends, donations and sponsorship is used for the upkeep of the exhibitions, new exhibitions, posters and flyers, the wages of the Guardian(s), publications and the building restorations and maintenance.

Please support Qurna Discovery, and do become a Friend.

The Friends have a small committee which meets when necessary and has an Annual General Meeting to which all Friends are invited. To read the AGM reports click here:

No further financial support is needed for the exhibitions, but do visit the Balady Centre and buy some of their craft works. Thank you to all who gave money over many years, without whom this project would not have got off the ground.
